Barista is a common enough job title for recent art school graduates. I don't believe it is the answer any art student gives to the age old question,"where do you see yourself after graduation?" Nevertheless, it was the job I landed after being handed a piece of paper at the end of a long stage.
I found the work rather soulless and soon found myself in a dark mental place. I thirsted for a way to bring creativity back into my everyday life. The idea was born from equal parts desperation and boredom.
I am by no means the first nor the last to find espresso a medium worth exploring. Sometimes the only mediums I use are ink and espresso, however I do often find myself using espresso to activate my watercolors. When I use that method I typically lay down the first and second washes with espresso before adding any color to my mixed media paper. Not unlike many other watercolor artists I find myself adding details with white ink.
